He saw her standing alone by the sidewalk—head down, arms crossed, clearly not having a good day.
As a police officer, he felt it was his duty to check in.
He approached gently and asked,
“Hey, are you okay? Do you need any help?”
But instead of a thank you… she turned sharply:
“Wait, are you trying to rob me or something?”
The officer froze.
“What?” he asked, confused.
“It’s just weird,” she said. “Cops don’t usually ask people if they need help unless there’s something in it for them…”
The street went quiet.
Bystanders paused, watching it all unfold.
He took a deep breath.
“Not every badge means danger,” he replied softly.
“But maybe this world has made you feel that way… and that’s the real problem.”
